If I need something new for a craft project and I can't find a work-around from my stash, I will put it aside and work on something that I have materials and equipment for. I'm hoping this will help with my UFO stacks as well.
Will you join me? Add a comment and I'll add a link to your Make Do In May blog post.

Confession- while its still April, I am going to get me a 5mm cable needle so I can work on my current project but after that, make do applies.

Not a hundred percent sure I will join you as I have already been making do for a while until I pay off a hefty debt to daughter number 2 but it is an excellent idea.I have come to the realisation that there is no space for anymore wonderful teatowels and tablecloths until I use some up first. I even had a close friend come and take away 2 big bags from my room and it has hardly made a dent in it so I really need to work first with what I have. I only have an hour and a half to go for this months special effort so I stayed home this morning and took a pattern off one of my favourite 12 gore plus inserts skirt and hope to make a new one up out a table cloth I picked up on Friday. If that works out I will go back to Aldi and hope to still find the one t-shirt in the correct colour next week and I will have a little witno set. Other than that I may just think about making do in May. Hope it a;ll works out well for you. CO next week so it will be super busy and the sewing will still not move forward much for a while. ;( Cherrie
ReplyDeleteI've really cut down on purchases of craft stuff in the last year. I've figured out that I just don't need so much! And I'm pleased that I'm working from my stash, instead of buying more. I don't know that I'll join you, but I'll be cheering you on. Can't wait to see what you post!
ReplyDeleteFunny I have been thinking along these lines for a while now. So I will do my best to work from my giant stash of everything from fabric to stained glass and if I have to buy it will be for my online art group or at a garage sale. How is that???
ReplyDeleteCherrie, hope you had a great C.O.'s week (I suspect you would have ;))
ReplyDeleteJudy, so far so good in the craft department.
Wanda, that sounds fair enough.
I have to confess that I have bought clothing, new. It suddenly seemed to get cold and I discovered that my winter wardrobe is quite shabby. Especially my jackets are tired, pilled and faded. So I bought a few things yesterday. I don't have enough of any stashed yarn to make cardigans or jackets and a project that big would take months for me to finish.
So I haven't quite made-do.
You must be very strong willed to achieve this goal, Joanne! I had a short shopping list when I went to the Quilt convention but look what happened...
ReplyDeleteBut I do make do in many other areas. Clothes for instance are all bought at opshops (except underwear!) and when I bring some home, I take some back next time, so my wardrobe isn't crammed. And I've never bought groceries on impulse - I always stick to the shopping list.
And I haven't been on eBay for a long, long time!
